Meeting
in Ireland 14th - 18th March 2012 |
Workshop
1 - Gathering of project material to date
This workshop concentrated on gathering
together the presentations made by all of the project partners to date.
This exercise allowed for a review of the work that has been presented so
far over the course of the project and to identify areas yet to be
covered. The practical aim of having all of the project work available on
a single CD was also an important focus of this workshop.
Workshop
2 - Video presentation of student and teacher interviews
In preparaation for workshop 2 each partner carried out a series of
interviews with students / teachers in order to discover the students
response to the practical methods used to help disadvantaged students in
each institute. Through their own individual stories participants were
able to see the difficulties these students face in making the decision to
return to education and to hear first hand how supports in their institute
were of benefit to them. Students being interviewed also identified areas
in which more help could be given. Topics discussed ranged from financial
supports, study support and availability of scribes to the initial fears
of returning to college, induction days and importance of supportive
teaching staff. Many of the students were able to highlight their success
so far since their return to education. A good cross section of students
were interviewed including students with physical disabilities, learning
diffiulties, immigrants and long term unemployed. All of the video presentations
were subtitled in English. The Estonian participants presented the results
of a survey that they carried out. Following the presentations there was
time for discussion and questions on the issues raised.
